How to use the design tool
Learn how Chat, Design, and Theme work together and how to build, customize, and quality-check your store’s pages.
The design tool consists of three complementary parts. Start by deciding what you want to change, then choose the right part of the tool.
Understand the three parts
1. Chat
Use Chat when you want to describe a change in your own words and get help building or adjusting the page. Be specific about what should be changed, where it should go, and what content should be used.
Ask for a new section, a new page, or a clearer structure.
Describe the desired style, color, tone, and placement.
Request one change at a time and check the result before moving on.
2. Design
Use Design when working directly with the page structure. Here, you select a page, add sections, and determine the order in which the content should be displayed.
Open the page you want to edit.
Add, move, or remove sections based on the page’s purpose.
Write or edit headings, text, links, and other content.
3. Build a page step by step
When working in Design, you build the page by adding and arranging sections. Start with the page’s most important message, then add content that helps the customer move forward.
Select the correct page in the design tool.
Add a section that suits the content, such as a heading, an image section, or a product section.
Keep the content concise and clear, with one main message per section.
Move the sections until the page flows naturally from the first impression to the next step.
4. Customize the Theme
Theme is used for the store’s overall appearance. Configure these settings before fine-tuning individual sections to give the entire store a cohesive style.
Add or replace the logo.
Choose colors and typography that suit the brand.
Only open the advanced settings once you know which detail you want to change.
Make small changes one at a time so it is easy to see what affects the result.
5. Preview and save
Previewing is an important part of the process. Check the page at all screen sizes before saving your changes.
Check that headings and text wrap well on mobile devices.
Check that links and buttons lead to the correct destinations.
Check that images, products, and prices are displayed correctly.
Only save once the page looks good in both desktop and mobile views.
A good workflow
Work from the big picture down to the details: structure first, then theme, and details last. Save often, but always check the change in the preview before moving on to the next part.
